Granada

Granada from La Merced Iglesia
While resting up at the Bustamante's home in Managua, Bruce and I decided that we would like to do some sight seeing so Saturday we hired a driver to take us to Granada (about 1 1/2 hours away).  We chatted the entire way (in Spanish, of course) with Giermo.

It was a spectacularly sunny day in Granada.  When we "tourists" arrived, we were hungry so we ate pecan pancakes at "Kathy's Waffle House".  Then we began taking in the beautiful colonial buildings in Granada.  We walked and explored and took photos all day and only stopped to get rehydrated.  Granada is a photographers dream...so many beautiful churches and interesting sites to photograph.

Horse drawn carriage

We checked out hotels that we had seen on the internet and decided that on our 34th anniversary next month that we will return and stay at "Hotel con Corazon" - hotel with heart.  Granada is on Lake Nicaragua and there are boat rides to see the many islands and also horse drawn carriages to tour the beautiful colonial town.  All of those are activities we will check out on our return.  If you are ever in Nicaragua...Granada is a 'must see'.
